What is Connected Cell?
The connected cell concept developed within COREF delivers an architecture that enables users to embed multiple Industry 4.0 technologies such as Smart Tools, Cobotics & Asset Tracking so they can enhance and support each other.
Whilst increasing the number of digitial tools in a manufactruing environment enhances capability it also increases complexity; both in terms of integration and management. Plug-and-Play systems do not yet exist for these tools, unless users move to a single supplier solution, which can limit operational flexibility.
COREF’s connected cell provides an architecture that standardises and simplifies the integration of digital tools and the management of data – to enable SMEs to maximise the potential productivity, efficiency and cost benefits such tools can deliver. The architecture defines an approach for standardising the way technologies are integrated into an industrial network and the means through which data is extracted, transported and iterrogated.
