What is Cobotics and Automation?
Collaborative Robots (Cobots) are robots intended to interact collaboratively with a human, within a shared space or where humans and robots are in close proximity.
These are different from traditional Industrial Robots that are designed to work autonomously without any human interaction.
Cobots are design in a nature to be safe, running at a slow speed of 250mm/s or less. They are fitted with a number of force feedback sensors used to detect any collisions and stop the cobot with brakes to display an error message.
The first cobot was invented in 1996 against the first industrial robot patents being filed in 1954.
