What is Analytics & Machine Learning?

Machine learning is a subset of artificial intelligence (AI). It aids the execution of tasks without explicit instructions.

The need for ML came about when it was no longer possible, or worthwhile, to create algorithms that a computer could use to execute a task or to solve a problem; ML is used in scenarios where it is considered difficult or infeasible to develop conventional algorithms to perform a task.

ML algorithms build a mathematical model based on training data, to make predictions or decisions without being explicitly programmed to do so. At the highest level, the model is trained, tested, and then put into production.

ML approaches have typically been classified into three basic categories; supervised learning, unsupervised learning and reinforcement learning.
